Value of Contemplation
In just a few days, many of you will guide your congregations, teams, and families through the upcoming Lenten season. Some have dedicated weeks to planning, preparing, and organizing, while others may have been reminded of Lent through this very email. As this season approaches, we encourage you to engage in reflection, not only on your personal journey but also on your leadership path. As leaders, we often prioritize "doing" over reflecting, and it may seem contradictory to invest valuable time in contemplation. However, we hope that Lent continually brings you back to what matters most.
St Benedict quotes,
"The monastic life is a continuous Lent of tasting toward God's kingdom. But since there aren't many of us who are strong enough to run a marathon every day, we encourage the whole community to set aside the season of Lent as a time to refocus on our goal and strip away anything that is slowing us down in our pursuit. The best way to do this is to be diligent about unlearning bad habits and to devote ourselves to prayer with tears— to reading, to soul-searching confession, and to self-denial.” -The Rule of St. Benedict
We hope and pray that this season serves as a catalyst for renewed focus and growth in your life and those that you have been graciously granted to lead.
We are so grateful to be with you every step of the way,
