Pastors & Church Boards

Daniel White is a lead pastor, coach and senior consultant. His eclectic background as a Presby-pente-gelical helps him work with churches across a broad theological spectrum. He specializes in working with leaders who wish to pursue healthy systems and teams—especially boards and professional staff. He assists leaders in naming and framing adaptive issues that will allow for personal and professional health.

What would you do if you were called to be our Pastor?

Without hesitation, I said, "I just want to be part of a healthy church."

I was exhausted by the leadership dysfunction and unhealthy system of my current congregation. The final straw involved a particularly unhealthy person who spoke inappropriately to my 5-year-old daughter. I was sure our board would rise to the occasion and exercise godly leadership. They said they wanted to... but they never did (even with the help of our denomination). And I was unable to lead in a way that seemed to make any difference.

I knew that if I could do it over, I would focus on creating a healthy leadership culture within the board, and then work with them to model healthy leadership for the staff and congregation.

So, I took the position when it was offered. I learned a new way to function with a board. Together, we have created a leadership culture that produces more systemic health than I have ever experienced.

If this resonates with you, know that we would love to support you in building a healthy pastor-church board relationship. At AE Sloan Leadership we offer church board coaching and consulting: email admin@aesloanleadership.com to learn more.
